Leicester, North Carolina Leicester (\ les-t r\) is an unincorporated improve in Buncombe County, North Carolina (USA); although incorporating was proposed in 2007, the proposal never passed.

Leicester is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Frontiersman Leicester Chapman purchased a tract of territory in the region from the town/city of Asheville, becoming the Postmaster in 1852.

Seven years later, Chapman retitled the region Leicester for the Earl of Leicester, also his own namesake. Leicester's schools fall inside the Buncombe County School District.
